(Skies for (A) Place to Rest) is a collection of piano improvisations (on my Roland FP-30X) that, like skies, exist as spaces with the potential for boundless imagination.

Maybe the sky, where daydreamers like me often find ourselves, is the only free space left on Earth. We're living in stressful times, and sometimes there's nothing to say. Playing piano has been a way for me to meditate and self-soothe, thinking while/by playing, playing through thinking... piano as thought and the sky to hold it all: music, thought, emotion. And along the way the music and I end up somewhere out in the clouds and scattered light colors, cradled by sky, breathing, feeling, in motion, at peace, free from time, in infinite space.

Consider this album a gift of skies—a place to rest.

Given that these were all recorded in my old apartment in Bankers Hill, the low-flying (landing) airplanes that would pass by my window make frequent cameos in the backgrounds of these recordings, along with some other ambience from the street below.
